Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) is next on board The Girl With the Red Riding Hood, a new werewolf movie written by David Johnson (Orphan). The gothic retelling of the “Little Red Riding Hood” story with a teenage love triangle at its center might have found its lead as the LA Times is reporting that Amanda Seyfried is a potential frontrunner.
According to the Times, Warner Bros. needs to go into production soon if they’re going to keep Hardwicke onboard so they are likely to announce some casting soon.
Keep in mind this is just talk at this point. I’ll keep you posted.

Screen Gems’ new drama Dear John, starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried, took the industry by surprise and kept James Cameron’s Avatar from topping the domestic box office for an eighth straight time. Directed by Lasse Hallstrom and based on the Nicholas Sparks novel, Dear John earned an estimated $32.4 million from 2,969 theaters, a strong average of $10,913 per theater. The film was made for about $25 million and the studio said its audiences were 84% female and two-thirds were under the age of 21. Screen Gems had hoped for an opening of about $20 million for the movie, which set a new Super Bowl weekend record, surpassing 2008’s Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour ($31.1 million).
Amanda participated in Channing Tatum’s Post The Love project recently, she wrote and played a love song. I think she sounds really lovely!
Hey y’all, this is something Amanda wrote on the plane while we were touring promoting Dear John. I filmed it while we at lunch in the hotel room. I think it’s a perfect expression of love. – Channing Tatum
The March 2010 issue of Vanity Fair features Abbie Cornish alongside Kristen Stewart and Carey Mulligan on it’s cover and Amanda Seyfried (among other actresses) in it’s fold out. VF.com has released a sneak peek at the article and another striking image of the ladies from the shoot, plus an on set video and stills. Watch the video after the break.
She was more dippy than mean in her 2004 film debut, Mean Girls, announcing vacantly that her breasts could predict the weather. But it took a most unlikely confection—the movie musical Mamma Mia!—for the world to see Amanda Seyfried in her full, dewy, wide-eyed loveliness. Since then she has become the go-to girl for modern fairy tales, including Lasse Hallström’s Dear John and the forthcoming Letters to Juliet. But watch for a 180-degree turn in this month’s Chloe, Atom Egoyan’s artsy sexual thriller, in which 24-year-old Seyfried plays the alluring, troubled complication in a failing marriage.
On Februay 1st Seyfried attended the Los Angeles premiere of Dear John – which hits theatres tomorrow.
Amanda looked gorgeous – even if very cold – in a Giorgio Armani Spring 2010 blue silk dress with a plunging neckline, an open back and colour-blocked skirt. Her look was completed with silver Brian Atwood “Kendall” pumps and a sparkling Judith Leiber Sunburst crystal-embellished clutch. Over x300 photos have been added to the gallery. Check out some footage from her on the red carpet after the jump.
Here is a big list of more Dear John stuff before I lose track with so much coming in daily.
